MAY 2008

Spring is in the air and so is the sultry exchange of guitar and sax melodies, as the Guitars and Saxes 2008 tour continues!  After a short stop at Pizza Express last month, Peter will rejoin his smooth jazz “high rollers” (Gerald Albright, Jeff Golub, and Jeff Lorber) when they take the stage in Las Vegas. A G&S show in Vegas?  Well that my friends, is a hand you just can’t lose! The G&S tour carries on through the summer and anyone who’s seen a G&S show knows it’s a sure bet!

A very BIG thank you to all of those Caravaners who voted for Peter in the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards! With award winners Michael Buble, Diana Krall, and Randy Crawford, it seemed only fitting to have Peter nestled within that bunch of stellar musicians. For a recap and a full list of winners (and possibly a picture of “you know who!”), go to www.canadiansmoothjazzawards.com.

MARCH 2008

Canadian Smooth Jazz AwardsPeter has walked away with the Best International Instrumentalist award at the Canadian Smooth Jazz awards. Again, the voters turned out to show their appreciation and put PW at the top of the tree. Well done Peter!

The Guitars and Saxes tour with Peter, Jeff Golub, Jeff Lorber and Gerald Albright kicks off on April 4 in New Jersey. Peter will be doing his usual stint at the Pizza Express in London from April 28 to May 4.

DECEMBER 2007

A gentle snow is falling to the ground, the Christmas tree is up, the stockings are hung, the smell of hot apple cider and cinnamon wafts through the house, and you’re about to lie down for a long winter’s nap. But what’s missing from this wonderful holiday picture? Why, the merry sounds of a “Peter White Christmas!”  Make your holiday season complete by purchasing Peter’s joyful new CD with fellow “elves,” Mindi Abair and Rick Braun. There’s still time snap up this holiday goody for yourself or loved one and insert into their stockings before the big day! Most online stores (Amazon, CD Universe, Barnes and Noble) have it stocked and range from $12.99 to $14.44 (U.S.). Plus, some offer free shipping (with a minimum purchase) AND you might be able to get before Christmas So don’t wait, order it post haste!

Tired of crowded shopping malls, finding a parking space, or one too many in-laws staying at your house for the holiday season? Well, treat yourself to see Peter, Mindi, and Rick live! It’s one thing to listen to a “Peter White Christmas” on your home stereo, it’s another to hear to merry music live and in person! The holiday season will soon be over, so make plans to spend it with Peter, Mindi, and Rick. The dates can be found on the tour page.
A vote for WHITE is RIGHT!  Peter’s has been nominated for “International Instrumentalist of the Year” by the Canadian Smooth Jazz. Cast your vote at www.canadiansmoothjazzawards.com

While you’re there, check out Smooth Jazz Now’s Akbar Nour’s interview with Peter. Peter talks about his Christmas tour and fellow guitarist Lee Ritenour.

We've added many more pictures to the site, including a few late arrivals from the Smooth Jazz Cruise in January. Many thanks to Joe Bonfanti, Maria Kumasaka, Sherry Fisher and Jem Honor for sending them to us.

We've also had some pics from Michael Cooper in Texas, who specializes in making guitar cakes for well-known musicians. You can see his amazing creations on the galleries page or on his website at www.coopcakes.com

Smooth Jazz photographer and PW fan Sherry Fisher is spotlighting Peter this month on her website. You can see archive pics of PW plus up-to-the-minute stuff from last week! Sherry's site is at http://www.smoothjazzart.com/

Talking of the PW archive, Caravan newsletter supremo Denise Barton has sent in this YouTube link to a performance by Basia on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno a few years back. PW can be spotted in the band, behind a Fender Stratocaster (unusually).

MAY 2007

Below - The latest Caravan gathering of loyal fans was at Jazz On The Vine in Osthoff, WI, on May 11th where Caravaners met up with PW after the show, posed for this picture and then got together with him at the nearest watering hole. A good time was had by all!

The Jazz Attack tour is in full swing; see the tour page for details. Left to right: Rick Braun, Richard Elliot, Jonathan Butler and PW. Pic by Steve Shiroma, from the Las Vegas gig last month.

Holland 1988 - On The BorderThere are some interesting clips of Peter on YouTube, one of which is an extract from an Al Stewart concert in Holland in 1988. Al and Peter are performing "On The Border" with a full orchestra. Peter has added his own recollections to the page, which you can see here.

There are also clips from the Maui festival with Dave Koz and the Smooth Jazz Cruise 2004.

PW at Pizza On The ParkOne of Peter's recent gigs at London's Pizza On The Park was recorded for broadcast on London's Polish internet station Radio Orla. The show will be broadcast on May 20. More details at www.radio-orla.com.

The gig was, of course, a total blast! The band included Jaared on sax and Peter's brother Danny on keyboards. The set climaxed with a frenetic version of the old Matt Bianco hit "Get out your lazy bed", with PW taking the lead vocal and reading the lyrics!

Peter will be back in London in October, this time at the Pizza Express in Dean Street, Soho.
